SHOUT BOX!

15 Feb was Total Defence Day.

And I am like supposed to bring my P1 angels to the hall to assemble after the second alarm. So the first alarm went off and caused a small commotion with 10 kids running up to me and shouting, "Miss Yong? Is there a fire? What happened?"

Okay...as usual, I shot them a "Please don't ask me any questions now" look while I calmly took the passes (in case they want to go to the toilet in the middle of a fake fire or a terrorist attack) and got them to line up (which took 7 mins which in the case of a real emergency, would have killed us).

When we finally reached the hall, we had to watch this video. But one interesting question that my colleague posed was, "What does the national anthem represent?" The answer was, "emotional defence."

This means that singing the national anthem gives us emotional defence.

Think about that! Woah! It was a revelation to me! The army is millitary defence but singing the national song is also a kind of defence-patriotism!

It made me think about God. Praising Him is also like an emotional defence that we have against the enemy of our soul. When the enemy advances, we sing praises to declare and raise our spirits emotionally to war against the enemy. You may think, just a song will be a form of defence? But truly it is!

I guess I'll look at the national anthem in a different way from now on.
