SHOUT BOX!

I recall tellin pgary once about the time i missed a beautiful sunrise.

the story goes, that one morning my dad was driving me to school and i just so happen to catch an absolutely pretty sight of the sun rising up ahead in the highway. now, being an advocate of the natural beauty lovers club (hehe), i went *zoop zooooop* to equip myself with my 1.3megapixel camera phone. not as good as camera quality, but its good enough for me. (anw i look good in any picture taken on any camera what right? HAHAHAH just kiddingggg.=X)

but anyway, to cut the story short, i didnt manage to catch the shot in the end. (timing issues..) and i was telling him (while comforting myself!!=P) that ITS OKAYYYY!!!! THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN!!!!! while receiving an affirming affirmation (haha) from our dear pastor.

eh? sounds familiar?? heh. to me it did ring a bell indeed. was facing a tough time in accordance to my studies last year about that time (A levels period eh!!!! BTW SIDENOTE: ALEVELS RESULTS COMING OUT SOON SO DO KEEP US IN PRAYER PLEASEEEEEEEE!!! THANK YOUUUUUU!!!=DD), and as commonly as the sun will rise (in fact), very often you hear such a word comin out from ppl in an attempt to comfort or cheer you up in a bad time of your life. and sometimes we go, "yeah..right... ofcourse.. so cliche mannnnn..." (and if i may add, with a 'haha-thankyou-i-appreciate-it-but-wait-til-you're-in-my-situation-then-you-see-for-yourself-if-the-sun-will-really-shine-the-same-again' kind of a grin.=D)

i mean, DUH, on one side its a known thing to every boy and girl in the world that the sun WILL rise every morning (unless of course you live in the north/south pole where night&day are like, 6months apart?=P), the question is, will i ever catch such a great opportunity again..?

sorry to tell ya, nope, we wont be able to catch that same great opportunity anymore...=(
BUTTTTT!!! thats the thing about havin your hopes and dreams placed in God ynoe!!=D He doesnt give you same'o opportunities that you've missed. but instead, He gives us even BETTER opportunities!!

just look below!!=)

if y'think you've messed up something real bad, no worries!!!!!!!
THE SUN WILL RISE AGAIN!!!!=P haha whack me for being cliche, but lets just see for ourselves eh? *winks*.

this time i managed to CATCH this opportunity after the 1st one that i missed. are ya gona be ready to catch the next big door open for you from God?=)

enjoy the sunrise and take flight!!=D

15 Feb was Total Defence Day.

And I am like supposed to bring my P1 angels to the hall to assemble after the second alarm. So the first alarm went off and caused a small commotion with 10 kids running up to me and shouting, "Miss Yong? Is there a fire? What happened?"

Okay...as usual, I shot them a "Please don't ask me any questions now" look while I calmly took the passes (in case they want to go to the toilet in the middle of a fake fire or a terrorist attack) and got them to line up (which took 7 mins which in the case of a real emergency, would have killed us).

When we finally reached the hall, we had to watch this video. But one interesting question that my colleague posed was, "What does the national anthem represent?" The answer was, "emotional defence."

This means that singing the national anthem gives us emotional defence.

Think about that! Woah! It was a revelation to me! The army is millitary defence but singing the national song is also a kind of defence-patriotism!

It made me think about God. Praising Him is also like an emotional defence that we have against the enemy of our soul. When the enemy advances, we sing praises to declare and raise our spirits emotionally to war against the enemy. You may think, just a song will be a form of defence? But truly it is!

I guess I'll look at the national anthem in a different way from now on.

February 10 & 11...

2 days of Joy, Gladness & Excitment...

Why?

Because 35 new brothers and sisters stepped into my Father's house...

But that's not all.

As i was on my way back home that quiet Sunday evening, I had a picture in my mind...

What?

I see an ocean filled with boats of all sizes, some big and rusty, some small and newly built.

It seems that the fishermen were all on their way back to shore.

As I look closer, I realised some came back with many, some came back with few, some none.

BUT, they all had one thing in common - they were smiling, some chatted away excitedly. Yes! They were rejoicing!

How come?

Ha... You see, they know that when it comes to their Father's house, it's never about how much which boat has more filled in, Cos as long as they gave their best out at sea, they can all await for that one great feast!

I pondered for awhile, I gave thanks again.

What this time? You may ask

Ha... Well, I'm just so glad that that everyone were out at sea and no one's sleeping in!

Hey fellow mates! I say to you.

All you who came back with much, little or none. Let's continue to say our prayers and get ourselves ready.

Cos when the next morning comes we would all want to be out at sea!

Hi Mighty Warriors!

It’s wonderful to be back here sharing my thoughts with you. Just last week, we just had our V-day event, Y=MX+C. Many of your friends came and were blessed by the event.

Altogether, I am pleased to share with you that we have 11 decisions and more than 100 FTVs that came through in just one service!

Many of you really went all out to invite and bring your friends for the event.

Many of you believed that God is going to do a special work in your friends’ lives.

In fact, some of you are still inviting them for the next IGNYTE service.

Warriors, I want to encourage you not to stop praying and believing. Saving Souls is the heartbeat of God and we need to carry his heartbeat to the schools and army camps.

Was I disappointed that not many came forward to receive Jesus? Honestly… of COURSE! I am only a human with real feelings after all right? But God reminded me of his promises that this will be a year of growth. Just in the month of January, we had more than 20 visitors passed through our services and each week, we have salvation and rededication decision for our Jesus.

If we want IGNYTE to grow then we must fight the battle on the ground which is in our school and army camps everyday! James 2:17 says, “Faith without Action is dead!”

Now we have made the first step by believing and bringing our friends for the event and now to the next level. If we want to go the next level, I believe the key is to pray EVERYDAY, see the need, and meet the need. We must keep sharing and inviting them to every service over the weekend and not just EVENTS! You must understand when you have God-filled faith within you, it cannot be contained but it will have burst out of you to touch the people around you!

A true mighty warrior does not give up easily but they will continue and carry the mission mandate where they go. Every opportunity, every open door, every chance is another step closer to see IGNTYE grow! God has been reminding me to intensify the level of prayer in IGNYTE lately. So folks, let’s really start praying even more for the war is at hand. Let’s us do his work so that the name of JESUS will be glorified, can you say a loud amen?

Next week, I will be preaching on how to have a faith filled life. I am sure you and your friends will be blessed.

Come on, don’t come alone, bring a friend next week!

Below are some quotes that were collected from an interview with kids ranging from 4- 8 years old – You will be pleasantly surprise what came out of it…

“If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"

“Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.”

“Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you."

“Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

“When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

“My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.”

These are cute quotes isn’t it?

Below are some from me!

“Love is when you buy your girl her favorite fruit for supper when she just had a wisdom tooth extraction.”

“Love is when you buy vitamins and wait for that special someone at the void deck to pass it to her when you know that she has flu.”

“Love is when you buy a teddy bear to pair up with hers, saying: “Now we’re all not alone…”

“Love is when you would spend a day at the goat farm with that special someone even when everything around you is nothing but hot, smelly and dirty.”

HOWEVER, nothing beats this…

“Love is when the entire universe is created just for us.”

“Love is when the Red Sea was parted for a group of people.”

“Love is when a shepherd boy was protected from a giant warrior.”

“Love is when a person is rejected, hated, spat at, laughed at, mocked at, but still died on the cross for us.”

“Love is when you were going about doing your daily things, He was thinking of YOU…”

Have a great V-Day! :)

Bro Andy

It’s happening so fast! We are approaching our special V-day, Y=MX+C! I have been hearing great reports of you inviting and bringing your friends for this event. Do you want to know how many people have confirmed their attendance? At least 100 plus confirmed coming for this event! Can you say a loud amen?

There is this verse in Acts 2:21, “those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved!” I believe this verse will apply to many of your friends who will be coming on this Saturday. I want to encourage you to continue to war in prayer over these precious lives! Remember the Prayer guide? *wink*

Case in point here, we must always remember that it is NOT THE FANTASTIC acting or stage setting or the great music that will get your friends to receive Jesus. Ya, maybe for a while but not for long at all. So the question is, what will help them move beyond just a one day Christian to a long term committed Christian. The answer is YOU! You are the expression of God’s love to the people around you. Remember what Bro Andy shared? See the need and meet the need.

Bringing people to Christ is an everyday business and Heaven’s door never closes to those who want to receive Jesus anytime, anywhere. I believe this is the year of growth for IGNYTE Ministry and as we approach Y= MX+C, pray for God’s constant, unfailing, faithful love to pour out in their lives. Regardless whether your friends receive Jesus or not, most importantly always remember that a seed is sown into their hearts and with much prayer, salvation will be within distance! IGNYTE Warriors, let’s us persevere with such great determination with every follow up, sharing and loving them into the
Kingdom of God! God is moving.

Can you hear the sound of Revival? =P

Love you all!

P Gary

2nd Feb is the best friday that i could ever thank God for!!
It was my younger's brother birthday on 2nd feb and it was also the LAST DAY OF MY LAST ATTACHMENT!!!
I am happy cuz i can dunk my uniform into the bonfire with my friends and celebrate the days of an intern be gone~ I have been endless attachments at various hospitals since my 2nd year in physiotherapy and it really amazes me how i survive the scrutinizing, the daily questionings of patient's conditions, the endless medication list i have to memorise and the ever kiasu attitude to make sure my patients dont faint, collapse, fall or die on me.

As I looked back and recalled the first attachment till my very last one, " GRACE" just fills my mind and soul. Though the days in the hospital were tough, nevertheless my day will always begin with a prayer in bed for our Lord's grace and mercy, everlasting favour and wisdom to be upon me. I heard of people struggling at the other hospitals or centres, scary supervisors that haunt them constantly for answers to their professional inquisitivity. I will never fail to go down on my knees and ask God for a good, friendly and mentoring supervisor.

To this day, I have not yet met nasty ones by the grace of God! I understood the amount of time and energy that i have to give in order to juggle school, attachments, club matters and not forgetting ministry. I had to hand to God my involvement in the canoeing team in school so as to give more time unto ministry.

As I served GOd with all i can and all i have, I found myself still struggling with studies. I asked God why with all this faithful serving, I do not get blessed in return. I failed a particular module 3 times for its practical component. I felt stuck. stuck in a wrong place, feeling that perhaps i had gone to the wrong place.
IN His timing He revealed 2 Tim 2:11-13, V13: If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. I felt some kinda housefly, swanked by newpaper when i saw that verse. I have been seekin God with the wrong motive. I came before God and asked Him to forgive my ways and change my thinking. I had one thing in mind: MY GOD WILL NOT FAIL ME. I persevered through my attachments and when i arrived the to the one i failed 3 times, i prayed to God really hard to reveal His power and grace for that attachment phase. And i can proudly speak of my Father's love that is ever bountiful, ever forgiving, ever ready to give because in ALL of my attachments to date( INcluding the scary module that i failed) I passed my second year with a disctinction and have cleared ALL my 3rd year attachments. PRAISE GOD!!

The assurance God gave to me about my performance during attachment covered all the inadequacies and anxieties i had in my heart.. and like in the bible- He can never deny Himself, He is the same today , ytd and forever more. I remembered one supervisor telling me: YOu might become one of the good physiotherapists around. When i hear of these, you can just imagine the guilt and shame i had in doubting God but the peace and joy knowing that my Father in Heaven is in control.

It doesnt matter how many times u fail, what counts is your faith in our Lord to lead and guide you onto the rightful path.

It’s Friday! Yeah!

Can’t wait for another exciting IGNYTE service! Last week I had the privilege to go to IGNYTE, Trinity@Paya Lebar to preach. It was an awesome time and God just moved in the hearts of the youths there. I shared about being a generation that is deep in their faith and not shallow in their faith. I am not sure when I am going to preach this but I really desire to see my youths rise up with deep conviction in their faith.

I remembered my best learning years were in school. I was really a committed youth serving ministry and loving God but sometimes the testing comes in school in the form of integrity, peer pressure and school commitments. To be honest, sometimes I just want to drop everything in church and just enjoy what the world offers to me. It was hard but God’s reminder of his love for me pulled me through and I think I have became stronger in my faith and understanding of God in my life.

Let me share with you my secrets to grow in your faith. Sometimes when God shares with you his secrets, you have to BELIEVE, ACTION AND PERSERVERE.

That carried me through my youth days. That perhaps deepen my faith in God, to trust him with everything I have. Sometimes it can be very tiring and scary but the benefits of it are tremendous!

My prayer is to every IGNYTE Youths both in PL and Adam will be a person of substance and not shallow!
Jesus Reigns Forevermore!
Love you all!
P Gary
