Title: X-Rated, Keep away!
Below you will find a brief summary of last week’s sermon:

When we hear the term X-Rated, most of us would link that with pornography, R21 movies, or maybe sexual sins.

Today’s topic is broader than that: ‘X-Rated’ refers to the activities, behavior, thinking or lifestyle that is deemed as ‘wrong/ sinful’ when measured by the standard of God.

When we talk about the X-rated, we must consider the works and the tactics of the enemy because the truth is that the enemy is actively at work in this world ensuring that both believers and non-believers are occupied and indulging in sin, resulting in destruction and death.

1 Pe 5:8
Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Many times we stay oblivious to the works of the devil and the demonic spirits. But the truth is that not only they exist among us, they are actively at work.

Enemy’s tactic 1: Deception – lies
Jn 8:44
When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Enemy’s tactic 2: Temptation
Mt 4:1
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.

Enemy’s tactic 3: Accusation
Re 12:10
For the accuser of our brothers,
who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

The devil’s ultimate goal for employing these tactics is to keep us in sin; because the devil knows the devastating effect sins have on us!

10 truths about sin
1. Sin enslaves/traps us
2. Sin usually leading to more sins
3. Sin leads to worse sin
4. Sin steals our time
5. Sin steals joy – Guilt and shame
6. Sin steals our confidence
7. Sin will never truly satisfy us
8. Sin hurts the people around us
9. Sin grieves the Holy Spirit and affects our sensitivity toward His voice
10 Sin affects our relationship with God

Galatians 5:19 briefly list for us that which is ‘X-Rated’ to God:

19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

• Sexual sins – Lust, internet pornography etc…
• Sin of Idolatry – things that you place above God
• Witchcraft – You may not be directly worshipping evil powers, but indirectly through satanic card games or computer games, satanic music, ghost story books or movies
• Drunkenness – All form of addictions)

As you read this blog entry, stay open to the voice of the Holy Spirit – don’t numb your heart, some of us here are trapped in sin, and we need to deal with it.

IGNYTE Ministry, God is calling us for our response today.

I. Our 1st Response:
Repent, Renounce & Reject

Today God is calling some of us to repent, confess your sins, and renounce your involvement with the X-rated. And some of you are trapped in the lies of the enemy, and you need to reject that which has been spoken over you.

1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

There is great power in repentance and confession because when we come to God in repentance, the devil no longer can bring accusations into our lives.
God’s desire is never to bring condemnation, but to bring conviction so that we may be restored when we confess our sins.

Conviction says:
You have sinned, come back to me!

Condemnation says:
You are guilty, get away from me!

God is calling us to return to Him in repentance, for He loves us and does not desire for us to be destroyed by sin.

Eze 18:22-23
23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
Ps 51:17
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Besides repenting of our sins, we need to learn to be Ruthless with sin.

II. Our 2ndResponse:
Be Ruthless with the enemy and sin!
➢ Be Ruthless with the enemy!
Jesus was tempted by the devil, but what did he do?
Matt chapter 4:
• “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone.”
• “It is written, do not put the Lord your God to the test.”
• “It is written, worship your God and serve Him only.”

Jesus used the Word of God to rebuke the lies and temptations from the enemy.

We can stand up against the enemy using the Word of God!

Some examples of powerful verses:
John 1:12 – I am a child of God!
1 Cor 3:16 – I am the dwelling place for the Holy Spirit
Rom 8:1 - there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus
1 Cor 2:16 – I have been given the mind of Christ. He gives me wisdom to make the right choices

When we begin to know all these verses well, we can use it against the enemy – if they sow lies in our mind or bring temptation in our paths, we can declare the Word of God.
For example, when tempted, you can declare: I have been given the mind of Christ, I choose to do what is right, away from me satan!

➢ Be Ruthless with sin!
Mark 9:43 - 47
43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life (may-im) maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell

What Jesus is saying in the passage is not for us to literally cut the different parts of body away, but explain to us that we need to be ruthless with sin.

So how can we be ruthless with sin?

• Go the extra mile to to ensure that we will not be caught in a place of sin

Example: Someone addicted to Internet pornography chooses to move his computer out from his room into the living room so that there will always be someone watching him. He was so determined that he decides confessed to his about his struggle – He wants to be ruthless with sin.

• Be accountable to people around you about your sin and allow them to pray for you and with you.

• Choose to give up or destroy possessions that cause us to sin.

Let’s make a commitment to be ruthless with sin, as a Ministry we will bring together all the items that are X-rated and burn them up together.
Last weekend we came before God in repentance and made a new commitment to be ruthless with sin, living a life of purity.

This coming week we will gather together all the trash bags, and make a new commitment – as well as the 2nd Part of this X-Rated series – be prepared for a powerful message from Pastor Gary!

Next week, we will burn all the items up with fire – the entire process will be record and screened during service.

God desires to free you from the accusations of the enemy and restore you today – repent and make a new commitment to be ruthless with sin.

If you are reading this blog and you know you need to come to God in repentance, just begin to pray and ask God for forgiveness for the X-rated things you have been involved with. After which you should renounce the activities. If it is the lies of the enemy that is causing to be trapped, reject the lies of the enemy, find verses in the Bible that build up your faith.

Make a commitment to be Ruthless with sin!
Come and join us in the next service along with all your trash bags of items which are causing you to sin!
